Approximately 145 of our residents poured into the city chambers carrying signs saying "STOP the
Creek Bend Extension" and "Yield the Road to our Children's Safety." 28 of those attending spoke
during "Citizen's Communications", and let Mayor Nyle Maxwell and the other Council members
know that we want the project STOPPED NOW!
A number of children were in attendance to express concerns over the safety issues that the influx of
traffic will bring to our community, and several of them displayed the courage to address the
Council!! It was an EXCEPTIONAL showing by our neighborhoods.
TV Channel KVUE Austin was on hand at the Community Center to do a
news package showing our community's concerns.
News 8 Austin came out to record the resident efforts of informing parents and
children at Fern Bluff Elementary of the coming City of Round Rock project and its
affect on Wyoming Springs Drive.
TV Channel KEYE 42 was at the City Council chambers to view the October
25th event and report on residents comments to the Mayor and Council.

March on Council 2 - The Sequel

Keep Them Hits a Comin'!!
Jimi Miller
Once again, our residents rose to the challenge and visited Round Rock City Hall on Thursday,
November 8th to speak with Mayor Maxwell and the city council. We didn't have quite as many
participants as we did at the October 25th meeting (many on holiday as they will be at the Nov. 20th
meeting), but we weren't terribly far off. And we had enough speakers that Mayor Maxwell limited us
to 1 1/2 minutes each this time!
As the primary topic, the Interlocal agreement between the county and the city was on the council's
agenda this evening. Tom Word, with the city, gave a historical presentation of the how's and why's
on the need to do the Creek Bend Extension and the Wyoming Springs widening projects. It was
the usual "dog and pony show" that we've all come to know and love from the city.
The council then went to Citizen's Communications where our members once again SHINED! I'm
always amazed at the number of concerned, well-spoken members we have who are willing to step
out of their comfort zone and speak to the council. I think the winners were Michelle Hamilton, with
her rendition of "SHOW ME THE MONEY!", and Lisa Ponce's in your face "You'll be hearing from me
again!" style. And as usual, Pat Savarese presented a most intriguing view of a traffic funnel, as only
Pat could (call him "the Sandman" next time you see him). Everyone who spoke should feel very
proud of the arguments they made against these road projects. We definitely made an impact on
the council once again.
After citizen's communication, the council asked Tom Word a few questions, then voted on the
resolution. The vote was unnanimous (as usual) to accept it. The city's next step is to put an RFP
out for an engineering firm to begin further analysis and potential design. DON'T GET
DISCOURAGED with these results. These are our battles, but the war is FAR FROM OVER.

A Neighborhood Advocacy Group
The Stone Canyon OA recently sponsored a forum for the candidates running for
Williamson County Commissioner, Precinct 1. Many of the questions asked the
candidates concerned the Creek Bend Extension and Wyoming Springs widening
projects. News 8 Austin was on hand to capture the event.
